Unfortunately, this creative reunifi cation was clouded by an extremely sad event: the death of our master and instructor, György Szabados on the very night of our performance. Right then and there we decided to continue this cooperation in order to maintain and develop the conceptions of Szabados.
The name Trio Kontraszt has a multiple background. First of all, I thought of Bartók’s Contrasts (scored for clarinet-violin-piano trio and dedicated to Benny Goodman and József Szigeti), then I recalled the contrasting elements characteristic of our music (we are all versatile musicians and composers) and our music language and heritage, that is completely contrasted to recent tendencies of free music.
