Leïla Martial – Valentin Ceccaldi Oh My Love

Leïla Martial and Valentin Ceccaldi have been working in a duo for several years, but it was only during the pandemic that they found the time to elaborate new material. Their debut album, Jardin des délices, was released on BMC Records in November 2023 and was soon awarded with Citizen Jazz’s ÉLU. The songs on the album create a dialogue between musical languages, regions and different chapters of music history: the duo has arranged three classical arias, a Réunion folk song and a song by Barbara, and the title track is their own composition. However, they have played several sold-out concerts before and after the album, including the prestigious Jazzahead! showcase in Bremen, so their repertoire is much wider than what could be featured on the album. During the days of the album recording, they performed at Opus Jazz Club, presenting an arrangement of a John Lennon – Yoko Ono song as an encore. This song will be released this month as a live bonus track, also accompanied by a video release on YouTube.
