On Hasse Poulsen's latest trio album, three distinctive characters of European jazz have joined forces: the Danish-born guitarist has recorded his inventive compositions with his long-time collaborator, saxophonist Fredrik Lundin, and the young stakeholder of Polish trumpet playing, Tomasz Dąbrowski. Unknown Winter was released in March this year.
But the trio also ventured into another world during the recording process, playing two songs from a trio version of the absurd musical comedy Sorry You Are Dead. Written by Stephen Clarke and scored by Hasse Poulsen, the comedy has not been performed in its entirety yet. Due to their different character, these songs were not included in the final album, but are now available as singles.
This time, Hasse Poulsen not only plays the guitar, but – as on his album Tom's Wild Years – he also showcases his abilities as a singer.
